S.B. Fuller was the founder and president of the Fuller Products Company, publisher of the New York Age and Pittsburgh Courier, head of the South Side Chicago NAACP, president of the National Negro Business League, and a prominent Black Republican. At one time, he controlled 9 corporations at the same time and became the richest African-American man in the 1950’s, during the midst of segregation, when Fuller Products Company alone generated revenues of over $18 million in one year. S.B. Fuller’s life was an illustration of business success which inspired countless aspiring entrepreneurs and future leaders including the founder of Dudley Products Inc., Joe L. Dudley Sr., the founder of Ebony/Jet Magazine, John H. Johnson, the founder of Ultra Sheen Products, George Johnson, Dr. T.R.M. Howard and many others.

Joe L. Dudley, Sr. (May 9, 1937)
Dr. Joe L. Dudley is one of the world’s most sought after entrepreneurial masterminds. As a young man, he was labeled mentally retarded and credits his mother with inspiring him to prove that he was just as able as anyone by challenging him to “show them Joe”. In 1957, he invested $10.00 in a sales kit and began selling Fuller Products door-to-door while still a student at North Carolina A & T State University in Greensboro, NC. From there he went on to become one of the largest manufacturers of black hair products in the world. He was the founder of Dudley Products Inc., Dudley Cosmetology University and the Dudley Beauty School System. Dudley Products Inc. became a $35 million dollar a year company and has been listed in the top 50 in Black Enterprise Magazine’s Top 100 Black Owned Businesses. He is known nationally and internationally as an inspirational speaker and humanitarian. In 2009, Joe L. Dudley, Sr. and Eunice Dudley were featured in a national movie, Good Hair, a Chris Rock documentary about the hair care industry.

The SB Fuller & Joe L. Dudley Sr. Foundation
The S.B. Fuller & Joe L. Dudley Sr. Foundation exists for the purpose of educating African-Americans about the virtues of capitalism and the positive effect of entrepreneurship as the vehicle for economic empowerment just as Mr. Fuller and Mr. Dudley have done collectively for over 80 years. The foundation is used to inspire, empower and enlighten aspiring individuals through the presenting, preserving and celebration of the accomplishments and legacy of past and current successful African-American entrepreneurs.
