BAEO Social Innovation Challenge to document to award $500,000 as an investment to an individual or team with the best approach for strengthening parent choice and high-quality education options for black children

Washington, D.C. – With less than 13 days until the video application deadline for the BAEO Social Innovation Challenge, today the Black Alliance for Educational Options (BAEO) released the first of a three-part video series aimed to seek innovators with the most disruptive and audacious ideas to help solve America’s black education crisis. The most innovative idea that advances advocacy for the children of low-income and working-class black families will receive a $500,000 investment to implement their innovative approach.

The BAEO Social Innovation Challenge Video Series tells the story behind the #BAEOChallenge and why the initiative is vitally important. Part 1 is considered the “Launch Video” – aimed at getting people motivated and involved in the #BAEOChallenge. Viewers will not only see a call of action, but more importantly, show potential collaborators why the #BAEOChallenge is of utmost necessity given the current state of education in black America.

“The video series presents the opportunity to bring this social mission to life and help propel the project far and wide,” said BAEO Board Chair Emeritus Dr. Howard Fuller. “We’re excited to visually share our vision with the world.”

“One of our goals with the #BAEOChallenge is to ensure we have unconventional applicants,” said BAEO President Jacqueline Cooper. “We hope that with the launch of this inspiring video series, leaders from every part of the country can take part in this game-changing opportunity.”

Parts 2 and 3 of the video series, which will be released over the next few months, will feature interviews with applicants, the BAEO selection team and provide an inside look at how the BAEO Social Innovation Challenge came to be.
