Charitable Mission

As a public, not-for-profit network, New Hanover Regional Medical Center offers care to everyone who needs it, regardless of his or her ability to pay. The hospitals in the network provide more than $83 million a year in uncompensated care, often to those who would not otherwise have access to healthcare.

High Standards

In 2003, New Hanover Regional Medical Center became the 70th hospital in the world to receive the Magnet Award for Nursing Excellence. This designation is the gold standard in nursing care given to those hospitals that meet or exceed rigorous standards of care and professional performance. It is the highest recognition awarded by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

In 2006, NHRMC received full accreditation for the next three years by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
