The Challenger newspaper was founded in Fayetteville, NC in October of 1987. By name change, it became Greater Diversity News in December 2003. GreaterDiversity.com and MBEAdvocate.com (Minority Business Enterprise Advocate) are complimentary websites to GDN, providing additional online resources and news. The inclusion of an online presence enhanced GDN's market and geographic focus.
GDN is a weekly, minority-focused publication used by thousands of public and private companies interested in issues impacting women and minorities in the Carolinas and the nation. GDN's pdf digital version and GD eNews, a bi-weekly newsletter from GreaterDiversity.com, reaches over 8000 subscribers.
Greaterdiversity.com is a high quality, user-friendly web log (blog) that serves as the primary portal that includes current diversity news and a full-featured job bank for workforce and supplier diversity advertisements. We promote workforce diversity and economic inclusion; and focus on connecting progressive companies (those that promote workforce & supplier diversity) with qualified job seekers. We build bridges between women/minorities and the careers they have earned.
We have developed a national job bank with thousands of jobs from the most progressive companies across the country. We assist employers in meeting their EEO/Affirmative Action objectives by working directly with colleges, universities, and career development departments to assist companies in their recruitment efforts. We provide human resource professionals with development resources on successful diversity programs, research and information related to race or multicultural experiences in the workplace. We expand the equal opportunity umbrella by expanding awareness.
We cover issues affecting all people who have been marginalized and denied equal economic access. Our online publication GreaterDiversity.com features news in four primary categories: Career News, Business News, Education News and general Diversity News for employers. In addition, GreaterDiversity.com is a complete online minority career resource center that assists people in developing job skills and getting the most out of their education.
MBEAdvocate.com is our second portal and extension of GreaterDiversity.com that addresses MBWE advocacy through spearheading Internet collaboration designed to identify and remove barriers to economic inclusion and to increase the bottom-line for MWBEs. MBEAdvocate’s collaboration tools are also designed to identify and promote strategies that help to bridge the digital divide and to promote computer technologies that are essential to the success of MWBEs.
Through our minority supplier development council membership, and affiliated memberships, we are promoting minority supplier diversity and minority business opportunities as well. We cover the latest news affecting minority/women owned businesses in hopes of empowering through education and insight into many of the challenges that, without our news coverage, may seem insurmountable. For our success in this area, the Carolinas Minority Supplier Development Councils awarded us the Class I 2005 Supplier Diversity Company of the Year. GreaterDiversity.com pursues its mission by:
• Enhancing job recruiting efforts by reaching thousands of qualified graduates from colleges and universities across the nation,
• Providing access to the GreaterDiversity.com jobs section containing information on jobs across the nation,
• Providing access to the GreaterDiversity.com resume section,
• Highlighting companies that are actively diversifying the workforce,
• Highlighting the activities of the National Minority Suppliers Development Council and its affiliated chapters, and
• Forging partnerships that model and integrate services that extend facilitation of MWBE goals and objectives. Our Goal: To develop a mutually beneficial relationship between your organization and our company.
