  POINT</p>\n<p>Mary Chambers\,succumbed to cancer in 1996. In memory of he
 r strength and courage I chose to fuel the energy of her great legacy by c
 ommitting to give back to those who are struggling with this debilitating 
 illness. Just as it has touched so many other households\, cancer has affe
 cted the lives of those in my family as well.</p>\n<p>Years ago\, my cousi
 n was diagnosed with cancer during her pregnancy. Being given the option o
 f either aborting the baby to receive chemotherapy or going through the pr
 egnancy with cancer\, she chose to have the child and receive treatment af
 ter birth. Today\, she is able to witness the joy of a beautiful child whi
 le simultaneously celebrating a cancer-free life. Stories like these and m
 any that I have heard from countless others shed light upon the need for u
 nification in fighting toward a cure and lightening the load of those seek
 ing to receive the best of care during treatment.<br /><br /> <a href='htt
