Welcome
If you are a new student, you will need to attend a New Student Orientation session before you will be eligible to register for classes. Participation is required for all new students, transfer students and returning students working towards their certificate, diploma or associate degree.
Orientation will include important information about academic life and expectations at Craven, tips on being successful in college, and student support services. Attending orientation is your first step towards ensuring your success at Craven.
This Orientation does not include academic advising. You will need to make a separate appointment to see an academic advisor.
Exceptions/Do Not Need to Complete Orientation:
Admitted directly into a special admission program -- Basic Law Enforcement Training, Medical Assisting, Nursing, Physical Therapist Assistant
Early College students
Special credit/Visiting students (non-degree seeking)
Students who have completed a bachelor's degree or higher.
Please make sure to have completed the following steps before coming to orientation:
Schedule and take the COMPASS Placement Test, if needed. Students may be exempt from taking the placement test if they meet certain requirements. More information and study guides are available at http://www.cravencc.edu/admissions/compass.cfm.
(New Bern Campus: call 252-638-7200 to schedule placement tests; Havelock Campus: walk-ins are welcome at the Academic Skills Center in the Redd Building, room 131)
Submit official high school transcripts or GED and all college transcripts. Note for Transfer Students: College transcripts will be evaluated once you have taken placement tests if required or contacted admissions to confirm intent to enroll.
