DESCRIPTION:The New Hanover County Board of Education will hold an interim 
 meeting on Monday\, October 18\, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. to further discuss the 
 signing of a required letter from the North Carolina Department of Public 
 Instruction regarding the district’s Disadvantaged Students Supplemental
  Funding allocation. Signatures from both the Board Chairman Ed Higgins an
 d Superintendent Dr. Tim Markley are required for the letter to certify th
 at Board policies have not contributed to the segregation of the schools o
 n the basis of social or economic status. \n \nBoard members raised questi
 ons about the signing of the letter at the October 5\, 2011 Board of Educa
 tion meeting and decided to hold an additional meeting this month to furth
 er discuss the issue. They have also asked Board Attorney Wayne Bullard to
  provide his opinion on the matter.\n \nThe meeting will be held at the Da
