The public is invited to attend a planning session on Tuesday evening, August 16, for the formation of a new Diabetes Support Group at Dosher Memorial Hospital. The meeting, which will begin at 5:00 pm, will be held in the second floor classroom at Dosher Memorial Hospital, 924 N. Howe St., in Southport. This planning session is intended for individuals or caregivers of individuals with diabetes interested in participating in a diabetes support group but who were unable to attend the planning session in July. This session will be led by Ruth Ann Petzinger, RN, CDE, and Vicki Allen, RD, LDN. There will be information gathering for the planning of future educational sessions and speakers. Dosher Memorial Hospital also continuously offers an American Diabetes Association recognized patient education program for persons with diabetes and a monthly free pre-diabetes session for persons with pre-diabetes. Nutrition consultations are also able to be scheduled. There is no cost to attend this Diabetes Support Group Planning Session but space is limited. Refreshments will be served.
