Music for a Great Space presents: Jack Mitchener, organ Friday, January 13, 2012, 7:30 PM Christ United Methodist Church 410 Holden Road, Greensboro, NC 27410 Jack Mitchener has been hailed for his brilliant and sensitive playing (The Diapason) and described as an artist who “brings music to life with supple rhythmic control, clear phrasing, energy, and sensitivity” (The American Organist). A member of the Oberlin Conservatory faculty, he performed last season throughout the country including a recital for the American Guild of Organists Region V Convention. He also played recitals at the Church of St. Sulpice and the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris. A laureate of national and international competitions (MTNA; Philadelphia AGO; Dublin), he recently served as a judge for the Biarritz International Organ Competition in France. He holds three degrees and two Performer’s Certificates from Eastman, and he also won the Gold Medal, Prix d’Excellence, and Prix de Virtuosité in the class of Marie-Claire Alain. This is his first performance in the Triad since leaving positions at UNCSA, Salem College, and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Winston-Salem in 2008.
