DESCRIPTION:<p>The UNCW Ann Flack Boseman Gallery presents Innocent Nkurunz
iza: Rwanda Shares Sept. 20 through Oct. 25. The exhibition formally opens
with a reception at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday\, Sept. 20 in the gallery locat
 ed on the 2nd floor of the<br /><br />Fisher University Union.<br /><br />
Through his choices of mixed media\, Nkurunziza uses vibrant colors and an
abstract impressionist style to explore 'Mother Rwanda\,'?the country as
both place and parent. His experience with blending colors and shading cre
ates a sense of movement while capturing symbolic moments from what he obs
erves on his journey as an artist. He states\, 'The dynamic rhythm of natu
re\, people\, colors and texture within my world are the basis from which
my art is derived.'<br /><br />Nkurunziza actively spreads his love of art
and his vision of the national identity to others in his work with projec
ts like Ivuka Arts where budding artists can find mentors and impoverished
children can find\, as the collective's website says\, 'hope and educatio
nal opportunities.' With pieces titled 'Fellowship' and 'Equality\,' the w
orks of Innocent Nkurunziza embody ideas rather than just images\, ideas t
hat UNC Wilmington is carrying into the classroom with several class visit
s by the artist. The communal nature of his art expands as it is placed in
tandem with the work of local student artists.  <br /><br />For more inf
ormation\, please contact the Association for Campus Entertainment (ACE) a

DESCRIPTION:<p>WOW Southern Conference<br /> 'Set me as a seal upon your he
art' Song of Songs 8:6<br /> <br /> Come to the beautiful mountains of wes
tern North Carolina for a weekend Christian womens conference. The lovely
“get away from it all” setting is refreshing and relaxing\, giving y
ou the opportunity to have quality fellowship with the Lord and others.<b
 r /> <br /> A WOW conference includes:<br /> <br /> Fellowship\, praise an
 d worship\,<br /> Teaching from the Bible\,<br /> Laughter and tears...<br
/> <br /> Beginning on Friday evening after a relaxing dinner\, and endin
g with lunch on Sunday gives ladies a chance to unwind and not be concern
ed with the details of every day life. The beautiful grounds of the Ridg
ecrest Conference Center foster private reflection\, prayer and bible stu
dy.<br /> <br /> Fellowship time with other women is available over meals
and in between the WOW conference sessions. The impactful teaching of God
’s Word by seasoned and anointed speakers is relevant and addresses the
   multi-functional roles of women in today’s society.<br /> <br /> Praye
r ministry is offered after the Word is taught to help women personally ap
ply what they have learned.<br /> <br /> Powerful times of worship through
music invite the Lord’s presence. The arts\, such as prophetic paintin
g liturgical dance\, and biblical theatre presentations are also incorpor
ated into a WOW conference to express worship to the Lord.<br /> <br /> I
f you are hungering for more\, this Christian womens conference is for you
!<br /> <br /> You will be challenged to live your life for Jesus in ever
deepening ways and come to know more of His joy and strength. The Bible t
eaches us that we are “complete in Christ” (Colossians2:10). This is
an important concept for women to grasp as society teaches us that we wil
 l find completeness in our earthly relationships\, careers\, home-life\,
 church or ministry.<br /> <br /> For too long\, women have searched for l
ove in all the wrong places. Only in Christ can we truly be complete. The
n we are enabled to face life with confidence no matter the circumstances
we may find ourselves in because we know that God is with us. God is alw
ays faithful and taking part in a WOW event will reinforce that truth.<br
/> <br /> It is always enriching to be part of a Women of the Word confer
ence in Ridgecrest\, NC. WOW events have a rich and long history at Ridge
crest. The present and future promises to be even brighter as women are
empowered to walk before the Lord prophetically and pursue their purposes
  in God’s Kingdom.<br /> <br /> A beautiful Christian woman impacts her
 home\, church\, community and workplace with the light of Jesus.<br /> <br
/> A Women of the Word conference offers a place of learning\, encourage
ment\, healing and growth for women of all ages\, cultures\, and denomina
tions. Dedicated to transforming women into Christ’s image through the
teaching of His Word and the empowerment of His Spirit\, WOW events equip
women to walk out biblical truths in their daily lives.<br /> <br /> We e
ncourage you to please contact us with your thoughts and questions!</p>\n<

DESCRIPTION:<p>Join us for an evening of classical splendor and gut-busting
orchestration as this year’s bands come together to pump up the jams in
honor of KidZNotes. This Durham nonprofit seeks to encourage positive dec
ision-making by providing kids with free instruments and lessons as well a
s the chance to become part of a state-wide children’s symphony. Now tha
t’s pretty hardcore. Visit www.trianglebattle.com for more information.
To those about to rock our knee-socks off\, we salute you.<br /><br />This
year’s epic Battle is dedicated to the original rock stars. The ones wh
o made long hair\, tight pants and cranking it to fortissimo cool long bef
ore electricity was even invented.<br /><br />That’s right. This year\,
the Battle is getting a touch of classical\, as we rock out in support of
 the radical rapscallions at KidZNotes!<br /><br />So dust off your tux\, p
ractice your scales and get ready to Rachmaninoff. For more information ab
out event details\, sponsorship\, and band entry check out the Triangle Ba
 ttle website.<br /><br />Become a sponsor!<br />Register your band!</p>\n<
