Tea Party Beliefs Far Beyond Mainstream Conservatism

Results from a new University of Washington survey show that tea party supporters drink a far different brew from other conservatives – a lot stronger and not name-brand stuff. In other words, tea party conservatives differ from other conservatives - a lot. Findings from the Multi-state Survey on Race and Politics at the UW amplify observations, voiced recently by mainstream conservative columnists such as Michael Medved and George Will, suggesting that the tea party is taking its philosophy in directions far more extreme than those of average conservatives.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Women’s appreciation of their bodies is only indirectly connected to their body mass index (BMI), a common health measure of weight relative to height, according to recent research. The most powerful influence on women’s appreciation of their bodies is how they believe important others view them, the study suggests. On the flip side, the more women are able to focus on the inner workings of their body – or how their bodies function and feel – rather than how they appear to others, the more they will appreciate their own bodies.

(NNPA) – There has been considerable progress made in America during the four decades since the Wilmington 10 became the international cause celebre for injustice to those activists involved in the civil rights movement. That was evident earlier this year when the City of Wilmington, North Carolina presented proclamations to the nine Black men and one White woman -- who became the focus of one of the longest and most controversial civil rights cases in U.S. history.

Turner Award was presented to a career state employee and Certificates of Merit were awarded to designers and contractors today during the 30th annual State Construction Conference at the McKimmon Center in Raleigh. Additionally, the Office for Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUB) presented five Good Faith Effort Awards to HUB leaders.
