PRE-BID MEETING AND BID OPENING
Rodgers-Leeper will accept sealed bid proposals from project specific prequalified trade contractors for bid packages 01T Tower Cranes, 02B Below Grade and North Central Energy Plant Expansion Electrical, 02C Below Grade and North Central Energy Plant Expansion Mechanical, 02E Below Grade and North Central Energy Plant Expansion Plumbing, 03A Complete Concrete Sub and Superstructures, 03G Precast Concrete Structures, 05A Structural and Miscellaneous Steel, 07F Below Grade Waterproofing, 31A Complete Sitework, 31C Aggregate Piers until 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 16th, 2019 in Room 218 of the Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) Drumm Facilities Services Building, 1325 East 7th Street, Charlotte, NC 28204 for the construction of the Library, Student Success Center, North Central Energy Plant Expansion at which time and place bids will be opened and read.
An open Pre-Bid Meeting will be held for all interested bidders on Wednesday, April 17th, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. in Room 215/216 of the Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) Hall Professional Development Building, 1112 Charlottetowne Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28204. A site visit will be held after the Pre-Bid Meeting presentation. The meeting will address project specific questions, issues, bidding procedures and bid forms.
The meeting is also to identify preferred brand alternates and their performance standards that the owner will consider for approval on this project. In accordance with General Statute GS 133-3, Specifications may list one or more preferred brands as an alternate to the base bid in limited circumstances. Specifications containing a preferred brand alternate under this section must identify the performance standards that support the preference. Performance standards for the preference must be approved in advance by the owner in an open meeting. Any alternate approved by the owner shall be approved only where (i) the preferred alternate will provide cost savings, maintain or improve the functioning of any process or system affected by the preferred item or items, or both, and (ii) a justification identifying these criteria is made available in writing to the public. In accordance with GS133-3 and SCO procedures the following preferred brand items are being considered as
Alternates by the owner for this project:
- Cooling towers by Tower Tech
- Cooling towers by Reymsa
- Chilled water, hot water and condenser water pumps by Taco
- Condenser water treatment system by Wingert
- Temperature control/BAS system by United Automation Corporation
- Floor Boxes to be Evolution Floor Boxes by Wiremold
The Library and Student Success Center is a new, approximately 188,000 square foot, 4 level combined library, student success center and theater on the college’s central campus quad.
The North Energy Plant Expansion is an expansion of an existing central campus energy plant to include, but not be limited to, expansion of the cooling tower enclosure and additional cooling tower, chiller and boiler and associated piping and electrical. The North Central Energy Plant Expansion bid packages will be a part of the Library and Student Success Center site and structure bid packages.
