The Orange Water and Sewer Authority (OWASA), a progressive water utility providing retail water, sewer and reclaimed water services to the Towns of Chapel Hill and Carrboro and to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, seeks a highly responsible, results-oriented team member to lead the Mason Farm Wastewater Treatment Plant Laboratory as the Laboratory Supervisor. The Mason Farm Wastewater Treatment Plant is currently participating in the national Partnership for Clean Water initiative for optimization and continuous improvement. ​

​The Laboratory Supervisor position leads the wastewater treatment plant laboratory staff and administers the laboratory programs while ensuring compliance with all policies and regulations. This is accomplished by supervising staff; developing technical reports; interacting with public; developing and implementing budget; maintaining an inventory of supplies; performing and overseeing all analytical testing; and remaining abreast of all laws and regulations. ​

​Candidates should be self-motivated with the strong ability and desire to lead others when it comes to development, team building, setting clear work standards and assisting the team to fulfill the mission and goals of the organization.  Candidates should have excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. ​

Candidates should have three to five years’ experience modeling leadership behaviors, coaching mentoring and supervising in a laboratory or similar environment with a bachelor’s degree in relatable field of study.  Position requires a driver’s license issued by the State of North Carolina. ​

​Successful candidate must meet and maintain requirements for a safety sensitive position. Physical requirements include the ability to frequently exert 10 pounds and occasionally up to 20 pounds. ​

Salary Range: $60,034 – $92,451
