Maintenance Mechanic

The Orange Water and Sewer Authority (OWASA), a progressive water utility providing water, sewer and reclaimed water services to the Towns of Chapel Hill, Carrboro and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, seeks a highly responsible, detail-oriented individual to maintain and repair buildings, equipment and vehicles as a Maintenance Mechanic.  OWASA seeks candidates that are team players with a positive attitude, solid work ethic with good communication skills.

This position performs preventative and corrective maintenance on water/wastewater plant equipment to include pumps, motors, generators, process control equipment and maintaining the upkeep of lift station equipment.  Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment is required.  Work is accomplished by receiving and completing work orders through a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

This position requires a High School diploma with at least one year of previous maintenance experience.  Valid North Carolina Class C driver’s license required.  Must meet and maintain requirements of a safety sensitive position.
