POLICE SERGEANT

HIRING SALARY:
$41,496-$54,447 DOQ

DUTIES:
The Town of Beaufort is currently accepting applications for the position of Police Sergeant. The Police Department embraces the concept of community policing while providing police services to include traffic and criminal law enforcement, emergency response, investigations, and special events. The Department serves a public of approximately 4,300 permanent residents and a summer population that swells to over 10,000 residents, visitors and summer guests. REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must currently serve as a Master Police Officer (MPO) or have at least 4 years’ experience with an Associate’s Degree and be eligible for their North Carolina Intermediate Law Enforcement Certificate, or similar combination of training and experience. Selected external candidates will have to complete an extensive 2-4 week pre-hire process that will include a medical examination, polygraph examination, psychological examination, emotional intelligence testing, and the successful completion of North Carolina’s police officers physical abilities test (POPAT). Successful candidates will also have to complete the Department’s orientation and supervisor’s field training program prior to permanent assignment.

All applicants must already have their North Carolina Law Enforcement Certification or be eligible for immediate certification with N.C. Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission if applying from out of state. All applicants must also possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license at the time of appointment. Relocation expenses for may be reimbursed up to $3,000.00.
