NCDOT TO HOLD PUBLIC MEETING
FOR THE PROPOSED IMPROVEMENT TO U.S. 401 AT NORTH PARKER CHURCH ROAD (S.R. 1411) AND PITTMAN GROVE CHURCH ROAD (S.R. 1413)
TIP PROJECT NO. W-5708G
The N.C. Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting regarding the proposed project to construct un-signalized superstreets at the intersections of U.S. 401 at North Parker Church Road (S.R. 1411) and Pittman Grove Church Road (S.R. 1413) in Raeford. The term “superstreet” refers to a design concept incorporating the use of “median left-overs,” which eliminates the left turn from a side street onto the main street and requires a vehicle that wants to turn left to, instead, make a right turn and then U-turn. By limiting the number of conflict points between vehicles during traffic maneuvers, the potential for collisions is therefore reduced. The meeting will take place on Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Mt. Pisgah Community Resource Center located at 373 Pittman Grove Church Road in Raeford.
The purpose of this project is to enhance the safety and mobility along U.S. 401 at North Parker Church Road and Pittman Grove Church Road.
The public may attend at any time during the above mentioned hours. NCDOT representatives will be available to answer questions and listen to comments regarding the project. The opportunity to submit written comments will also be provided at the meeting or via phone, email, or mail by January 26, 2018. Comments received will be taken into consideration as the project develops. Please note that no formal presentation will be made.
