PROPOSED POLICY ON TOBACCO/SMOKE-FREE HOUSING
EFFECTIVE: JULY 31, 2018
This notice is to inform you that The Housing Authority of the City of Wilmington (WHA) is proposing a new policy, complete and total Tobacco/Smoke-Free Housing. The policy will prohibit smoking and use of tobacco products on all WHA properties, which includes apartment units, residential units, housing development community centers, the housing development grounds, and yards of single family homes, by tenant(s), guest(s) or invitee(s).
The WHA is making available for public comment a draft of the Tobacco/Smoke-Free Housing Policy. The 45-day Public Comment Period will begin on October 18, 2017and end on December 1, 2017. The proposed policy is also available for review at your Property Management Office and on the Authority’s website: www.wha.net
Comments must be made in writing and mailed to the Housing Authority City of Wilmington, 1524 S. 16th Street, Wilmington, NC 28401, Attn. Resident Services or by hand delivery to Wilmington Housing Authority Property Management Offices no later than 10:00 a.m. on November 29, 2017
A public hearing will be conducted on December 1, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. in the Executive Conference Room of the WHA’s Central Office, 1524 S. 16th Street, Wilmington, NC. Anyone interested in commenting on the proposed policy is invited to attend.
