INVITATION FOR BIDS

STATESVILLE MUNICIPAL SERVICES CENTER
STATESVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA

Sealed bids will be received by The City of Statesville in the Statesville City Hall located at 227 South Center Street, Statesville, NC 28677 in the Second Floor City Council Chambers at until 3:00 p.m., Thursday, October 17, 2019 at which time and place bids will be publicly opened and read for the furnishing of labor, materials and equipment for the construction of:

Statesville Municipal Services Center

Mailed proposals shall be sent to the following: Statesville City Hall, ATTN: Mr. Scott Harrell, City Manager’s Office, 2nd Floor.  US Mail: P O Box 1111, Statesville, NC 28687; FedEx/UPS: 227 South Center Street, Statesville, NC 28677.

A mandatory Pre-Bid Conference will be held at 10:00 AM, on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 in in the Statesville City Hall located at 227 South Center Street, Statesville, NC 28677 in the Second Floor City Council Chambers.  The meeting will address project specific questions, issues, bidding procedures and bid forms.

Complete plans, specifications and contract documents for this project will be open for inspection in the offices of Accent Imaging of Hickory and CBSA Architects, 226 Second Street N.W., Hickory, N.C. 28601.  The office of the Architect is not responsible for any and all documents and information obtained from other than the above listed sources.

Contractors offering a bid on this project must be licensed to do contracting in the State of North Carolina in accordance with North Carolina General Statutes.

Each proposal shall be accompanied by a cash deposit or certified check drawn on some bank or trust company, insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp, of an amount equal to not less than five percent (5%) of the proposal, or in lieu thereof a bidder may offer a bid bond of five percent (5%) of the bid executed by a surety company licensed under the laws of North Carolina to execute the contract in accordance with the bid bond.  Said deposit shall be retained by the owner as liquidated damages in event of failure of the successful bidder to execute the contract within ten day after the award or to give satisfactory surety as required by law.

A performance bond and a payment bond will be required for one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price.

Payment will be made based on ninety-five percent (95%) of monthly estimates and the final payment made upon completion and acceptance of work.

No bid may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for the receipt of bids for a period of 60 days.

The City of Statesville reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities.
