NASCAR Hall of Fame Introduces Spring Break From the Ordinary

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (April 11, 2011) – Students and their families can make a break for the NASCAR Hall of Fame this Spring Break to get an EXTRAordinary experience at the facility’s newest  event,Spring Break From the Ordinary,Friday, April 16 – Sunday, April 30. In a class by itself, Spring Break From the Ordinary features daily physical challenges and games for students (K-12) to compete to win prizes.

Activities include:

  • Pit Crew Challenge: Students can compete as a member of a real pit crew racing to jack a car, change a tire and add fuel.
  • Hard Card Challenge: Visitors can see if they can make the grade by answering trivia and earning points at eight different interactive stations.
  • Qualifier Challenge:Rookie racers get behind the wheel to test their driving skills.
  • Scavenger Hunt:Guests navigate through the Hall using clues to uncover a secret message and relay the message at the end of their visit for a special prize.

“Families won’t find ‘old school’ entertainment at Spring Break From the Ordinary,” said Winston Kelley, executive director of the entertainment venue. “The NASCAR Hall of Fame is an entertainment venue for the ages as well as for all ages. A guest’s experience is highlighted not only by authentic NASCAR artifacts and educational films but also some of the most-sophisticated, hands-on programs like our simulators and state-of-the-art technology such as the iPod-like, touch screens which guests can test their NASCAR knowledge, design a virtual race car and more. Spring Break From the Ordinary is a perfect way for families to have fun while learning about NASCAR in an extraordinary way!”

Students can compete for a variety of prizes in each challenge and then check-in at the prize redemption booth to collect their winnings. Winners from the Spring Break From the Ordinary challenges will be posted on NASCARHall.com.

In addition, each student receives a coupon for a free child’s ticket (valued at $12.95) good for a return visit between June 1 – Aug. 31, 2011. Each child also receives a coupon for a free birthday cake with the purchase of a NASCAR Hall of Fame birthday party.

Whether a pee wee pit crew member, a Junior “high schooler” Johnson  or a tech-savvy sophomore, every age also can enjoy their visit to the 150,000-square-foot entertainment attraction choosing from more than 50 hands-on exhibits and interactive stations, iRacing simulators, a Kids Zone, authentic NASCAR artifacts, historic stock cars, thrilling films and more.

In conjunction with Spring Break From the Ordinary, guests can compete for more prizes on the NASCAR Hall of Fame’s Facebook and Twitter pages. Kids visiting during Spring Break From the Ordinary can upgrade their ticket to a Rookie Racer Membership for $12. Admission is $19.95 for adults, $17.95 for seniors and military, $12.95 for children 5-12 and free for children younger than 5.
