The Advanced FLSA Regional Workshop is an intensive, two-day program taking an in-depth look at FLSA issues of particular concern to local government employers. The course will focus on better understanding the exempt duties test and on compensation issues, such as meal, sleep, travel and training time, telecommuting/working from home, pay-docking, the use of interns and volunteers, fluctuating workweek, the 207(k) exemption for law enforcement and firefighters and common issues arising when natural disasters, such as hurricanes or tornadoes, strike. The class will meet from 1:00 pm-5:00 pm pm on the first day and from 9:00 am-1:00 pm on the second day. The course instructors are Diane Juffras and Drake Maynard.

Each workshop is limited to 40 participants. You must have taken Introduction to Public Employment Law or have five years of FLSA experience to register. If you are unsure if you qualify for the workshop, email juffras@sog.unc.eduwith a brief summary of your qualifications.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Chapel Hill - Course participants who cancel their registration on or before September  26 2013 will receive a full refund. Those who cancel on or before October 3, 2013 will receive a full refund, less a $25cancellation fee. No refund will be made for cancellations made after October 3, 2013. All cancellations must be submitted in writing, as outlined in the School's cancellation policy.

Winston-Salem - Course participants who cancel their registration on or before October 10, 2013 will receive a full refund. Those who cancel on or before October 17, 2013 will receive a full refund, less a $25cancellation fee. No refund will be made for cancellations made after October 17, 2013. All cancellations must be submitted in writing, as outlined in the School's cancellation policy.
