Virtual Town Hall For Attorney General Josh Stein and Lieutenant Governor candidate Yvonne Holley.

Last week New Hanover Dems met four of our NC Council of State candidates.  Monday, June 22nd, we’ll meet two more experienced leaders, Yvonne Holley and Josh Stein.

Yvonne Holley: Lt. Governor 

The role of the Lt. Governor of North Carolina is unique in that it is the only elected office which works in both the executive and legislative branches.  They assist the Governor and are next in line of succession. The Lt. Governor also serves as the President of the State Senate, can cast tie-breaking votes there, is on the State Board of Education, NC Board of Community Colleges, and the Military Affairs Commission.

Josh Stein: Attorney General

The Attorney General, in addition to serving as the state’s chief legal advisor, heads the North Carolina Department of Justice. The duties and responsibilities of office include representing the state and its officials, departments, agencies and commissions in all civil matters, providing legal opinions when requested by the general assembly, governor or other state official, assisting judges, district attorneys, magistrates and municipal and county attorneys, and handling criminal appeals from state trial courts.
