WASHINGTON – In response to the primary victory of Florida Democratic candidate for Governor, Andrew Gillum, 350 Action Executive Director May Boeve made the following statement:
“Today, Florida is one step closer to having a visionary, progressive governor with bold plans to tackle the climate crisis. Andrew Gillum has refused to be bought by the fossil fuel industry, while remaining a powerful voice for a just transition to a renewable energy economy. His broad platform champions justice, from raising the state’s minimum wage and corporate taxes, to supporting national efforts aimed at abolishing ICE and establishing Medicare for All. As sea level rise and intensifying storms close in on the Sunshine State, it’s critical that voters put their support behind leaders like Gillum who bring a dynamic vision and are ready for real climate action.”
350 Action is empowering voters across the country to make a direct impact in the most important climate races in the nation. In addition to endorsing Gillum, 350 Action has endorsed U.S. congressional candidates Deb Haaland (NM-1), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14), Ilhan Omar (MN-5), Jess King (PA-11), Katie Wilson (NY-21), Dana Balter (NY-24), and Rashida Tlaib (MI-13), U.S. Senate candidate Kevin de León (D-CA), and gubernatorial candidates Cynthia Nixon (D-NY), Ben Jealous (D-MD), and Bob Massie (D-MA).
