Armed Man Arrested in Maryland Seeking ‘To Kill Justice Brett Kavanaugh’

Authorities on Wednesday, June 8, arrested a man from California who carried a weapon near the home of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

Though the man didn’t make it onto Kavanaugh’s property in Montgomery County, Maryland, he reportedly said he was there to kill the justice.

Police haven’t identified the armed suspect, only offering that he’s in his mid-20s.

One published report said the individual carried a grudge against Kavanaugh because of the leaked draft of an opinion by the U.S. Supreme Court that revealed the justices are poised to overturn Roe v. Wade.

That statute provides constitutional protections for abortion.

Officials claim the individual had made previous threats against the judge and also expressed outrage of the many mass shootings that have occurred across the country.

“The man was armed and made threats against Justice Kavanaugh,” Supreme Court spokeswoman Patricia McCabe said in a statement.

“He was transported to Montgomery County Police 2nd District,” McCabe stated.

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan also released a statement noting that officials had heightened security at the homes of all U.S. Supreme Court Justices since May.

“I call on leaders in both parties in Washington to strongly condemn these actions in no uncertain terms,” the Republican governor insisted.

“It is vital to our constitutional system that the justices be able to carry out their duties without fear of violence against them and their families.

“We will continue to partner with both federal and local law enforcement officials to help ensure these residential areas are secure.”
