Faithful Voter Pledge Cards: Call to Action to Commemorate March on Washington

Faithful Voter Pledge Cards: Call to Action to Commemorate March on Washington

by 08/23/2016

We are calling on faith centers to hold voting rights themed services. We will provide their Souls to the Polls Coordinator with a toolkit which will including lectionaries, scriptures, announcements, and more. We are also encouraging faith centers to register members of their congregation and pass out Faithful Voter Pledge Cards.

Sunday, August 28th is the 53rd anniversary of the March for Jobs and Freedom in Washington DC when Dr. King shared his vision for America. We shall commemorate it with a series of action from August 27th to August 29th. We need all branches to participate in this important weekend of actions, as we continue to build the “This is our TimeThis is our Vote! This is our Selma!” campaign. We have 78 days until the election. Just two months until Early Voting begins. We must make every day count!

We are calling on every branch to hold a voter registration drive on Saturday.  If you are interested in being a volunteer to host a voter registration drive on Saturday please email [email protected] with the time, location, and address of your registration drive along with the best contact for the drive by Wednesday, August 24th. We will be posting this information on our website and sending it over our supporter listserve to encourage new volunteers to participate. Upon request, we can also have office volunteers call through the Our Time volunteer pledge cards to recruit volunteers for the drive.

MONDAY – MORAL MARCH TO THE POLLS KICKOFF
