Rodgers will accept sealed bid proposals from project specific prequalified trade contractors for bid packages 04A Masonry, 06B Carpentry and Casework, 07A Roofing and Accessories, 07B Waterproofing and Sealants, 07E Exterior Metal Panel Systems, 08A Glass Assemblies, 08B Passage Door Assemblies, 09A Drywall Assemblies, 09C Acoustical Assemblies, 09D Hard Tile, 09E Floor Coverings – Resilient and Carpeting, 09F Painting and Wall Coverings, 10A Specialties, 10B Signage, 12B Laboratory Furnishings, 14A Elevators, 21A Fire Protection, 22A Plumbing Systems, 23A HVAC Systems, 23B Test and Balance, 25A Integral Controls, 26A Electrical until 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 22nd, 2019 in Room 215/216 of the Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) Hall Professional Development Building, 1112 Charlottetowne Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28204 for the construction of the Merancas Phase IV Classroom Building at which time and place bids will be opened and read.
An open Pre-Bid Meeting will be held for all interested bidders on Wednesday, April 24th, 2019 at 3:30 P.M. in Room 119 of the CPCC Merancas Campus, Claudia Watkins Belk Center for Justice, 11920 Verhoeff Drive, Huntersville, NC 28078. A site visit will be held after the Pre-Bid Meeting presentation. The meeting will address project specific questions, issues, bidding procedures and bid forms.
The meeting is also to identify preferred brand alternates and their performance standards that the owner will consider for approval on this project. In accordance with General Statute GS 133-3, Specifications may list one or more preferred brands as an alternate to the base bid in limited circumstances. Specifications containing a preferred brand alternate under this section must identify the performance standards that support the preference. Performance standards for the preference must be approved in advance by the owner in an open meeting. Any alternate approved by the owner shall be approved only where (i) the preferred alternate will provide cost savings, maintain or improve the functioning of any process or system affected by the preferred item or items, or both, and (ii) a justification identifying these criteria is made available in writing to the public. In accordance with GS133-3 and SCO procedures the following preferred brand items are being considered as Alternates by the owner for this project:
- Floor Boxes to be Evolution Floor Boxes by Wiremold
- Door Hardware by Allegion
- Dynamic Air series “V8” filters in air handling units
- Fire alarm and smoke detection system by Simplex branded fire alarm equipment by Johnson Controls Fire Protection
**Pre-Bid Meeting information listed above is in regard to all Bid Packages except for Bid Package 25A. A separate Pre-Bid Meeting for Bid Package 25A only will be held on May 1, 2019 starting at 2:00pm in Room 125 of the CPCC Merancas Campus, Claudia Watkins Belk Center for Justice, 11920 Verhoeff Drive, Huntersville, NC 28078. A visit to the existing facilities will happen after the prebid conference presentation. Attendance of the Bid Package 25A Pre-Bid Meeting is mandatory to bid Bid Package 25A.**
The project is located on the CPCC Merancas Campus in Huntersville, NC. The building is a new approximately 61,000 square foot, 3 story building including, but not limited to, spaces for classrooms, laboratories, library, student life and services and conference / meeting. Scheduled construction commencement is January 2019.
