June 11th at 7:00 PM – Virtual Screening of the Documentary Short, Voter Fraudbusters

Join us on Thursday, June 11th at 7:00 pm for a virtual screening of the documentary short, Voter Fraudbusters, followed by a panel discussion with Zack Hawkins, State Rep. from Durham; Bob Hall, former Exec. Director of Democracy NC; and Mac Heller, Exec. Producer of Rigged.

Voter Fraudbusters embeds with North Carolina’s Voter Integrity Project (VIP) during the 2016 election season. We watch as VIP uses an obscure 1903 Jim Crow-era law to illegally purge thousands of North Carolinians, many of them African Americans, from the voting rolls. And while VIP lectures about massive voter fraud, they find none on election day, Nov. 8, 2016.

In light of current claims of vote-by-mail fraud, this 14-minute film shows these allegations are a canard, serving as meager cover for vote suppression. It is produced by the American Issues Initiative.

The American Issues Initiative has also produced the documentary, RIGGED: The Voter Suppression Playbook The full film will be made available for free via a unique web link for those who RSVP to this event. Narrated by Tony and Emmy award-winning actor, Jeffrey Wright, RIGGED takes a rigorous look at voter suppression, sparking discussion on the actions needed to protect the sacred tenet of “one person, one vote.” It details a variety of voter suppression “plays,” or tactics, ranging from the purging of voting rolls to passing new, restrictive voter ID laws to gerrymandering and voter intimidation.
