New Initiative Expands Support of Cancer Patients and Services at NHRMC

WILMINGTON, NC – The New Hanover Regional Medical Center Foundation is pleased to announce a new initiative, Currents of Care, to provide a constant flow of support for those who have been diagnosed with cancer.

Building on the longstanding successes of The Pink Ribbon Project, the Currents of Care initiative will support all cancer patients and services at NHRMC Zimmer Cancer Center, ensuring everyone with a cancer diagnosis is eligible for the kind of individualized support championed by The Pink Ribbon Project.

“We wanted to make sure we were in the right position to expand our reach to help all cancer patients while also continuing to support The Pink Ribbon Project,” said Schorr Davis, NHRMC Vice President of Development/Foundation Executive Director. “We are fortunate the time is right thanks to our many generous community members who support Pink Ribbon by holding independent events throughout the year.”

Last year, those events raised more than $52,000 for Pink Ribbon, which provides free mammograms and diagnostic services to uninsured women in the area as well as comfort bags to newly diagnosed cancer patients.

“We’re proud to continue that important work and look forward to meeting even more patients’ needs,” Davis said.

To learn more about the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to support cancer patients throughout our region, supporters can attend the annual luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, at the Wilmington Convention Center.
