Rev. Al Sharpton and National Action Network to Host Mlk Day Celebrations

Events to commemorate legacy of Dr. King come as nation prepares for the 60th anniversary of the March on Washington this summerIn commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day next week, Rev. Al Sharpton and the National Action Network (NAN) will host its annual breakfast in Washington, D.C., followed by its Policy Forum at the NAN House of Justice in Harlem on Monday, January 16th.

NAN’s Washington, D.C. breakfast, The Dream Defined, will be cochaired by Martin Luther King III and Tanya L. Lombard, Vice President, Global Public, and External Affairs, Head of Multicultural Strategic Initiatives at AT&T Services, Inc. The House of Justice Policy Forum will include some of New York City and State’s top elected officials.

NAN’s MLK Day 2023 will set the tone for the year, which marks exactly 60 years since Dr. King and other Civil Rights Leaders organized the pivotal March on Washington in August 1963. As the nation reckons with historic levels of violent hate crimes and threats to its democracy, NAN continues the decades old fight for democracy, social justice, and civil rights.

The events com as Loudmouth, the critically acclaimed documentary on the life and legacy of Rev. Sharpton, will become available for rent or purchase on Amazon and Apple on Friday, January 13th. The feature length film examines how Rev. Sharpton grew up through the King movement and used nonviolent demonstrations to call out racism in northern cities like New York.
