Trinity Grear of Adelphi, Maryland Has Signed a Grant-In-Aid to Join the Owls

Rice head men’s tennis coach Efe Ustundag announced on Wednesday, March 18th, the Owls have signed Trinity Grear of Adelphi, Maryland to a grant-in-aid to join the Owls for the 2020-21 season.

“I am very excited to announce the addition of Trinity to our team,” Ustundag said. “We are bringing in a proven winner with a blue-collar attitude and a great character. He is one of the fastest players out there who will fight for every ball. Trinity will make our team better from the get go.”

Grear is currently ranked 22nd in the USTA Boys 18 and under rankings and is ranked as the No. 37 senior by Tennis Recruiting News.  In his last three tournaments, he reached the singles finals of an USTA Level 2 tournament, finished third in a Level 3 event in Virginia and reached the round of 16 of the USTA National Indoor Championship in Kansas City, Kansas in November.

Grear was named the winner of the 2018 Fila R.E.A.C.H Award (Realizing Extraordinary Accomplishments with Courage and Humility).
