UNCW Office of Facilities Hosts Informational/Networking Session, ‘The Joint Venture Conversation’

WILMINGTON, NC – The  (http://uncw.edu/com) UNCW Office of Facilities is hosting an informational/networking session, The Joint Venture Conversation, on Thursday July 28, 4 – 6 pm in McNeill Hall, Room 1051.

Joint venture is a collaborative model useful in creating partnership between construction mangers, general contractors, and minority firms.  The joint venture agreement serves as an opportunity for more than one firm to offer expertise and resources to a construction project.  Firms share risk and reward according to their respective contribution. UNCW is sensitive to the need for diversity and has a desire to foster inclusion in our construction program.

Cheryl Sutton, HUB coordinator stated, “At UNCW, we are committed to meeting, and whenever possible, exceeding the State mandated 10% minority participation goal on our construction projects. We realize that intent of joint venturing is often misunderstood. Our goal is to provide clarification on how this process can effectively best serve contractors and increase HUB participation.”

The meeting is open to contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and construction industry professionals. Experts in the fields of law, and construction will serve as presenters.
