What We Blacks Need to Do – Twelve-Point Checklist to See Which Candidate Will Better Represent You

Use a twelve-point checklist to see which candidate will better represent you. As a former boy scout, I used this one to evaluate Trump and Biden. Often called the Fundamental Principles of Scouting, the scout Law describes the values every scout should follow to become a productive leader. I gave them a yes or no, and the winner was the one who received the most yes answers. CAUTION: Do not drink anything during this test, or you may choke (smile).

My state, North Carlina, has an open U.S. Senate seat. Therefore, I will use this same test to evaluate the two candidates. One is a former public defender and North Carolina Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Cheri Beasley. She respects the rights of girls/ ladies and voting rights and supports funding of Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security. Ted Budd has and will continue to vote “no” on programs to help the middle class and poor.

He is a lifelong National Rifle Association (NRA) member and millionaire gun dealer. In his combat-ready gun store, he sells guns ranging from single-shot Saturday night specials to rapid-fire maximum-kill AK-47s. He also has a military-style member-only gun range. Has gun violence touched your family, friends, community, or workplace? Are you registered? Will you use these twelve- points to grade the two people who will make laws to govern you and your children for the next six years?
