McCormick Field Improvements Project

NOTICE TO BIDDERS 

Blum Construction has been hired as the Construction Manager @ Risk by the City of Asheville and will receive and publicly open sealed proposals from prequalified bidders for the construction of the McCormick Field Improvements Project.  Bids will be delivered to 161 S Charlotte St, Asheville, NC 28801, USA, Public Works-1-PW-Floor 1-Room A109, and then read aloud.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The project will consist of a renovation and addition to the existing +/-4,000 seat ballpark.  Project scope will include a variety of renovated or new player facilities, a new natural grass field, and upgraded sports lighting.  The project will feature many new or renovated fan amenities including new seating areas, new comfort facilities, a new team store, and new LED scoreboard.  Modifications to the vehicular drop-off area, entry plaza, site drainage systems, underground utilities, and landscaping in and around the additions will be part of the scope.

Site Walk, Pre-bid Meeting, and Networking Session 

The Bid opening process will be as follows:

  • Friday, July 12, 2024.
    Bids will need to be dropped off in a box at 161 S Charlotte St, Asheville, NC 28801, USA, Public Works-1-PW-Floor 1-Room A109.  All sealed bids will be required to be placed in a sealed envelope labeled with the required details listed in the bid manual.
  • Receipt of bids will officially close at 11:00 A.M. – no bids or supplemental documents will be accepted after the bid closing.
  • The first Bid Opening will be at 1:00 P.M., held in person and via video conferencing, publicly read out loud via the video conferencing system (and viewed). We will go systematically by bid package from Division 2 through Division 9.
  • The second Bid Opening will be at 3:00 P.M., held in person and via video conferencing, publicly read out loud via the video conferencing system (and viewed). We will go systematically by bid package for the remainder of the bid packages. 
  • First Bid Opening in Person:

All substitution requests are due no later than 8 am on Monday, June 17.

All RFIs are due no later than 5 pm on Tuesday, June 25.  RFIs received after this time will not receive a response from the architect and will not have changes incorporated into the documents for the Addendum.

Blum Construction and WC Construction have a long-standing commitment to maximize minority and other HUB participation on all our projects, and we recognize the importance the City of Asheville places on minority and HUB participation.  Historically underutilized and minority business participation is strongly encouraged. Blum Construction has the ability to create custom solutions to support a successful project outcome.  Examples of Trade Partner Support:  quick pay arrangements, modified insurance limits, bonding access or alternative bonding solutions, joint check agreements, prequalification assistance, disaggregation of bid packages, alternate options for financial statements prequalification requirements, break out of materials and equipment to support cash flow.

No facsimile or email submissions are permitted.  Sealed bids must be received prior to the bid opening time at the location noted above. Sealed Bids can be mailed but should arrive before 4:00 pm on the day before the bid to Frank L. Blum Construction Company, 30 Bryson St. Suite 160, Asheville, NC 28803, Attention:  Christine Davis.  Blum will receive, open, and read publicly all bids received.
