Dr. Arikana aka Mother Africa Vice-President Kamala Harris, presumptive Democratic Party Presidential Nominee
Welcome to the “Economic Liberation of Africa” podcast. In this video, we will discuss a topic of worldwide historical significance. A few years ago, I became familiar with the former African Union (AU) Ambassador to the United States (US), the honorable Arikana Chihombori-Quao, MD. After a little reflection, I concluded that she was the most consequential Black leader in the world since Dr. Martin Luther King in the US and Kwame Nkrumah in Africa.
In arriving at my decision, I considered both former Presidents Barak Obama and Nelson Mandela. After deliberating, However, I concluded that both Obama and Mandela were significant transitional leaders. Dr. Arikana’s mission is the economic liberation of Africa and its descendants worldwide. I concluded that this mission was transformative and when achieved, would have a more positive long-term impact on the lives of Black people. Therefore, I chose Dr. Arikana as today’s most consequential Black leader.
A week after Vice President Kamala Harris became the Democratic Party’s presumptive Presidential nominee, some declare her the most consequential Black leader in the world today. What do you think, and why is it important? I think both are uniquely consequential because both are mandatory calls to Black people in general and #WinWithBlackWomen to help them accomplish their respective missions.
I recognize that Kamala has a critical time sensitive deadline requiring immediate action, but all Black people should be aware of the awesome challenge Dr. Arikana faces in her mission and mobilize to support her mission
During an interview with Greater Diversity News, Dr. Arikana provided a historical overview of Africa’s fate after many countries gained independence between the late 1950s and the early 1960s. She stressed that African countries were denied economic liberation during this era of independence. She contends that until Africans achieve economic liberation, “nothing—and I mean nothing—we do is going to improve our circumstances.”
She said that “for Africans to reclaim our economic liberation, this moment calls for unity of purpose. That unity of purpose will only be reached when we attain a moment of clarity and understanding of who we are as a people and recognize the forces working behind the scenes to keep us where they want us to be. Without this awakening, we as Black people will continue to be workers and never truly enjoy our economic potential.”
She continued, “Africa, the richest continent on Earth, must reclaim her economic liberation. To do so, the children of Africa must unite and, first and foremost, understand what they have. They must wake up to the realization that they are the mothers and fathers of humanity. Only then can Africa rise once again.”
Greater Diversity News’ podcast, the Economic Liberation of Africa, supports and promotes Dr. Arikana’s mission and urges our readers to go to the website of the organization she founded and serves as CEO of, the African Diaspora Development Institute (ADDI), and become members. www.ouraddi.org
