BIDDER PRE-QUALIFICATION REQUEST

Balfour Beatty in Association with Brownstone is seeking to pre-qualify principal trade contractors to submit bids for the furnishing of labor, material, and equipment for the modernization of the Central Detention Center as well as North Detention Center.  Pricing will be accepted separately for each.

This prequalification is required in order to bid.  This job requires a project specific prequalification, even if you are already prequalified with Balfour Beatty.

Work at Central Detention Center includes renovation of existing medical pod (new walls, floors, ceilings, and new plumbing fixtures), infirmary pod (new floor finish, wall finishes, and new plumbing fixtures), removal and reinstalling specific cell doors (also retrofit sprinkler heads), full roof replacement, modernization of elevators, replacement of existing mixing valves, removal and replacement of all major HVAC equipment (larger equipment pre-purchased by Balfour Beatty and assigned to HVAC Trade ), replacement of exhaust fans, replacement of VAV boxes throughout, reconnection of electrical services to new equipment, modification of fire alarm system and new building automation system.

Work at North Detention Center includes 4 new blast chillers, removal and replacement of all major HVAC equipment (larger equipment pre-purchased by Balfour Beatty and assigned to HVAC Trade), replacement of AHU’s and exhaust fans, roof replacement at Juvenile addition only, repair doors and frames in kitchen area, and replacement kitchen hood.

Prequalification for the following bid packages:  01B General Trades, 03B Precast Repair, 07A Caulking, 08B Glass and Glazing, 09E Painting, 26A Electrical, 32A Landscaping.

Pre-qualification Instructions:

• Complete forms in their entirety.
• Provide supporting documents as required.
• Sign & notarize form.
• Prequalification Packages are due back to Balfour Beatty on March 8, 2024. 

Similar project experience will be considered during prequalification. 

Bid Bonds and Performance and Payment Bonds are waived for Trade Packages under $500,000.  If submitting multiple Trade Packages and the aggregate of the packages meets or exceeds $500,000, a Bid, Payment, and Performance Bonds will be required for each Trade Package. 

Submittals for prequalification should be made on Balfour Beatty job specific prequalification form.  Completed forms may be hand delivered, mailed, faxed, or submitted electronically.  Prequalification forms are available by request from Annie Hughes at [email protected] or direct download:
