Natural Gas System Expansion
ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS FOR
NATURAL GAS SYSTEM EXPANSION
Pursuant to Section 143-129 of the General Statutes of North Carolina, sealed proposals for the work of the expansion of the municipal gas system of the City of Lexington, North Carolina, will be received on or before 11:00 o’clock A.M. local time on May 7, 2024, in the Office of the Purchasing Officer at Lexington City Hall, 28 W. Center Street, Lexington, NC 27292.
The project will consist of installing approximately 14,000 feet of 6″ steel pipe and 3,600 feet of 6″ polyethylene pipe as described in the Contract Documents.
A non-mandatory pre-bid conference will be held on April 26, 2024, at 9:00 o’clock A.M. local time at the City of Lexington Utility Operations Center, 425 Carolina Avenue, Lexington, NC 27292.
Proposal forms, Specifications, and Plans may be examined at the following locations:

Copies may be obtained at Heath and Associates, Inc., 108 W. Warren Street, Suite 300 Shelby, NC 28150 upon deposit of one hundred dollars ($100.00) for each set, which deposit will be refunded upon return of the Plans and Specifications, and other Contract Documents, in good condition, within thirty (30) days after the bid opening date to each bidder who submits a formal proposal to the City. One-half (1/2) the amount of the deposit for all sets of complete documents, including Plans and Specifications, returned in good condition within fifteen (15) days after the opening of bids will be refunded to all prospective bidders who do not submit a formal proposal.
Each proposal must be accompanied by a deposit equal to five (5%) percent of the net price bid.
This project is partially funded with an EDA grant. The EDA project number is 04-79-07852. Contractors must comply with the special conditions identified in Section EDA of the contract documents. The EDA special conditions require the contractor to comply with the Davis-Bacon Act, the Copeland Act, and other specific Federal regulations.
All construction materials shall be manufactured in the United States. Contractors must comply and document that the materials conform to the Build America, Buy America (BABA) provisions detailed in the Specifications.
