SCOPE OF WORK 

The purpose of this project is to improve an existing asphalt rail crossing to a concrete tub crossing along Transit Road at the Port of Wilmington. The scope of work will include demolition and removal of the existing rail and asphalt surface, grading and compacting subgrade, installation of the concrete tub crossings, and connecting new 115 # rail into existing rail at both ends. Total rail downtime shall not exceed 14 consecutive calendar days.

Contractors are hereby notified that they must have proper license under the State laws governing their respective trades and that North Carolina General Statute 87 will be observed in receiving and awarding contracts.

No bid may be withdrawn after the opening of bids for a period of 30 days. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and waive informalities. Bids shall be made only on the BID/ACCEPTANCE form provided herein with all blank spaces for bids properly filled in and all signatures properly executed.

An open Pre-Bid meeting will be held for al interested bidders on May 22, 2024 at 10:00 AM in the Executive Board Room of the NC Maritime Building, 2202 Burnett Blvd., Wilmington, NC, 28401. Attendance at the Pre-Bid meeting is not mandatory, but it is recommended that all bidders attend to acquaint themselves with the site conditions and job requirements. All Pre-Bid questions must be submitted, in writing, to the Owner’s Representative at least 7 days prior to bid opening.
