UNC Morehead Teaching Lab Renovation project located in Chapel Hill, NC

Blum Construction will accept proposals until 5:00 pm on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, for the UNC Morehead Teaching Lab Renovation project located in Chapel Hill, NC.

The project scope is to renovate 6 chemistry teaching labs in the Morehead Chemistry Labs Building. Add alternates include an additional teaching lab and corridor/lobby work. The scope of work includes the design for the renovation and conversion of existing laboratory into new teaching laboratories spread across multiple floors of the 1985 Morehead Chemistry Labs building. The aim of the project is to create a modern and functional teaching environment that meets the needs of students and faculty in the Department of Chemistry.

The entire teaching labs are to be upgraded including the finishes and utilities. The renovation includes demo, new walls, entrance door/frame, and window views from the corridor, and final connections and coordination with owner provided lab casework and equipment. Additionally, the HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and life safety are to be updated in the labs with connection to existing base building systems.

The project will be completed in two phases. Labs 100 and 101 will be completed in phase one and all other work will be completed in phase 2.

This project has a goal of 10% MWBE participation. Please include the MWBE forms with all bids. If MWBE subcontractors require assistance with bonding or payment terms, please let us know. Blum Construction has the ability to create custom solutions to support a successful project outcome. Examples of Trade Partner Support:  quick pay arrangements, modified insurance limits, bonding access or alternative bonding solutions, joint check agreements, prequalification assistance, disaggregation of bid packages, alternate options for financial statements prequalification requirements, break out of materials and equipment to support cash flow.
