EQUITY IN PUBLIC HIRING AND CONTRACTING

Historically Black people and businesses have been systematically excluded from fair hiring and business opportunities by public bodies.
An initiative has been designed to get elected officials and candidates to support the hiring of an M/WBE (Minority & Women Business Enterprise) consultant, by their entity. The consultant would review the spending policies of their public body, or the one that they aspire to, in order to determine if there is racial equity in its hiring and spending policies. That is, to determine if people of color are receiving their “fair share” of public opportunities.
