Rally Against Gun Violence Held in Huntsville

The Alabama NAACP held a Stronger Without A Gun (SWAG) Rally in Huntsville on Saturday to promote a message of ending gun violence.

The rally was a collaborative event with Madison, Morgan, Limestone, Lawrence Counties, and Tri-County.

The event was at Big Spring Park, and free shirts were provided, and there was music, food, and community resources.

Many attendees joined the event on Saturday with orange shirts in honor of gun violence awareness.

The purpose of the rally was to create a united call to action to stop gun violence.

“I’m hoping this event will save at least one person’s life, and they’ll say I will not use any form of weapon, especially a gun, in any kind of conflict. Maybe it can save a child’s life to say, ‘Hey, we was told not to touch a gun,’” SWAG Chair Kecia Hendrix said.

“If you see a gun, tell someone. If you see a gun, if you need to turn it in, you can go to HPD and they will take that gun and they will take that weapon from you and you will also get an incentive for doing that and it can be anonymous, so please everyone, put down the guns because we are stronger without a gun.”
