Maki Mandela to Share Perspectives on Justice, Equality, and Her Father’s Legacy

New York, NY (December 7, 2023) – Rev. Al Sharpton and the National Action Network will welcome Dr. Pumla Makaziwe “Maki” Mandela, social justice leader and daughter of the late Nelson Mandela,  to the House of justice in Harlem on Saturday, December 9th. Saturday’s event will honor discussions on the longstanding fight for justice, human rights, and the enduring legacy of Nelson Mandela.

Rev. Sharpton, a long-time friend and collaborator of the Mandela family, has shared a special relationship with them for many years, dating back to the former South African president’s first visit to the House of Justice after his release from prison.

Mandela is a prominent figure in her own right, carrying forward the principles of justice and equality that her father championed throughout his life. As the chairperson of the House of Mandela Family Foundation, she continues to advocate for positive change, drawing inspiration from her father’s dedication to the struggle against apartheid. Saturday’s event provides a unique opportunity for the community to hear firsthand from Dr. Makaziwe Mandela and gain insights into her experiences, perspectives, and the ongoing work for justice both in South Africa and around the world.
