Houston: The Rice men’s tennis team returned to winning form on Saturday, downing Trinity 4-0 at the George R. Brown Tennis Center with the clinching point against Trinity coming from a player named Trinity (Grear).
Doubles: The Owls turned the tables on the Tigers, who captured the doubles point on their way to a 4-3 win in San Antonio in January, racing to take the opening point with wins at the first and third lines. The win lifted their spring doubles mark to 9-3.
Singles: While Adam Oscislawski quickly extended the lead to 2-0, dropping just three games at the fifth line, his Rice teammates were leaving no room for a potential comeback, racing to wins in the first sets at the other five singles lines. Wes Barnett and Grear only lost a combined seven games on their way to the clinching points.
Efe Ustundag: “As tough as the Texas match was yesterday, I knew there would not be any hangover from it because we had lost at Trinity in January. They definitely had our attention. I was very pleased to see that we came to work today with great focus and took care of business.”
