According to the federal department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), an estimated three million families have already lost their homes to foreclosure since 2007. But, the worst may still be ahead; analysts now predict that as many as eight million more Americans could face foreclosure by 2012.

A group of juniors from Kenwood Academy High School and undergraduate and graduate students from the University of Chicago (U of C), both on the South Side, collaborated on a research project to find out where Black youth stood politically during the era of President Barack Obama, the nation’s first Black president.

The California prison system is so overcrowded that its conditions are, "incompatible with the concept of human dignity." That was the conclusion of a bitterly divided the U.S. Supreme Court in a judicial order that could result in the release of nearly 40,000 prisoners from the country's largest penal system during the next two years.
