When Silence Is Not An Option

Click on the picture below to view the sermon that Rev. Barber delivered on the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King’s groundbreaking speech against the Vietnam War at New York City’s Riverside Church.
We will continue to honor Dr. King this Tuesday with the Fight for $15 at the “Still Fighting for the Dream” Town Halls.
April 4th marks the 49th anniversary since Dr. King was assassinated while standing with striking sanitation workers in Memphis, Tennessee. Across the nation on April 4th of this year, the Fight for 15 and allies in the labor and civil rights movements will come together to revive Dr. King’s vision of economic and racial justice.
The Fight for $15, labor and racial justice movements like the NC NAACP and the Forward Together Moral Movement have common cause in fighting the disastrous toll that 400 years of slavery and segregation, combined with 40 years of anti-union policies, has had on working people in this country.
Before he died, Dr. King was working on a massive Poor People’s Campaign to lift wages and ensure that every American could enjoy the fruits of their labor. On April 4th, join us to revive the spirit of the Poor People’s Campaign!
