Norfolk, Va. – Company officials proudly announce that S&W Ready Mix Concrete Company’s Castle Hayne Plant was recently named as a first place winner of the 2013 Commitment to Environmental Excellence Awards. Co-sponsored by Concrete Products magazine and the National Ready Mix Concrete Association, the Environmental Excellence Awards program provides national recognition for companies that provide outstanding environment protection and maintain sound environmental management practices in their operations.

“We’re very proud of this.  It shows our constant commitment to environmental stewardship, from the design of the facility to the everyday operations,” commented Bill West, S&W Vice President and General Manager. “Our employees think about it every day – maintaining and preserving our environment has become a way of life for us.  It’s the right thing to do and it’s how we do business.”

The Commitment to Excellence program salutes companies that have not only met, but surpassed governmental compliance requirements and demonstrated a commitment to environmental excellence through plant and staff investment. The program provides awards in five categories based on the plant’s production volume. Eligible plants include NRMCA producer members located in the U.S., its territories, or Canada.
